Homily by Fr. Erel Villanueva
In this Sunday Mass Homily at Saint Michael Kalibo, Fr. Erel Villanueva shares that there are two tables before us wherein we can feed our faith. There is the Table of the Word, and the Table of the Eucharist.
In the Table of the Word, we remember that scripture says that “whoever hears My word has eternal life.” The Word of God is like a 2-edged sword sharper than bone and marrow, it shows us what is right or wrong, it exposes our motives, it guides us and strengthens us. When we eat the Word of God, we eat the Bread of LIfe.
In the Table of the Eucharist, we remember the scriptures, “whoever eats of My flesh and drinks of My blood has eternal life.” We partake of the Body & Blood of Christ with faith and thanksgiving. The Eucharist brings healing.
People who barely read the word, pray, partake of the Eucharist are spiritually malnourished. That’s why we need to constantly feed our faith, making our spiritual immune system strong!
