Homily by +Bp. Romie- Jun Peñalosa

In this Sunday Mass Homily at Saint Michael Kalibo, +Bp. Romie- Jun reminds us how to live our lives wisely, and that is through gaining wisdom from God. How? By partaking of His food and drinking His wine. We do this every Sunday as we gather together in the Eucharist as one family and one body in Christ.

Knowledge is wisdom, and wisdom is the correct application of knowledge. The wisdom of God is connected to the fear of the Lord – for scriptures say that “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Fear of the Lord is love of the Lord and it allows you to live wisely. Wisdom begins with knowing God, because when you know God, you know the will of God. If you fear God, you will get an understanding of His will.

We also need the guidance of the Holy Spirit for us to discern the will of God in our lives. As we receive Christ personally, we are also receiving it with our community. By understanding His Word and loving one another, we are able to follow God’s principles. And by doing so, wisdom begins.
