Topic: Living in God’s Provisions (Part 3) – Overcoming the Hindrances for Provision in your Life (Part 2)

The Hindrances for God’s Provision in your life

  1. The Orphan Spirit
  2. The Slave Mindset
  3. Poverty Mentality

The Orphan Spirit

John 14:18 – I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Characteristics of an Orphan Spirit

1.) Very Competitive, Always looking for attention.

  • God already accepted them…

2.) Independent Spirit; Rebellious Spirit

  • They have this feeling that they don’t belong.

3.) Fear and Insecurity

  • No confidence, always have a need to prove themselves.

4.) Performance-oriented

  • They feel the need to keep on doing well to earn the approval of others(of their parents/God).
  • Desire to perform well.

The Salve Mindset

John 15:15 – No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.

“A servant attitude is different from a slave mentality/mindset.”

Poverty Mentality – mentality based on fear (fear of lack, fear of want, etc.)

Exodus 16:14-20 – God provides for His people but they have been slave for so long and along with it comes their poverty mentality.

Example of Poverty Mentality:

Hetty Green – known as “the richest woman in America”. Known for both her wealth and her miserliness

“To overcome these hindrances, we have to go back to the Word of God, renew our mind and align ourselves to God.”
